Domestic companies next month are expected to rake in the Innovation Awards of CES (Consumer Electronics Show), the world's largest trade fair for household electronics and information and communications technology, in Las Vegas.

The Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) on Dec. 10 said the initial results announced by the Consumer Technology Association of the U.S. found that 129 of 292 companies that received such honors were Korean.

Presented by the association, the honors go to products around the world with high levels of technology, aesthetics and innovation. Only those released in a given year are eligible for the awards.

Korea won the most awards this year, as it did last year, with 129 companies in 2024, or 44.2% of all participating entities, receiving 165 honors as well as 46.1% of all the Innovation Awards. The final results will come on Jan. 7 on the opening day of CES.

Korean companies stood out in smart cities, human security, fintech, drones and the metaverse, as well as earning the majority of the awards in artificial intelligence and digital health.

At next month's CES, KOTRA will run an integrated Korea Pavilion featuring 403 domestic companies and promote a project to support the awards in Korea.

"Taking advantage of the globally credible CES Innovation Awards, we will strive to share the innovation results of Korean companies and devise methods to support future exports," KOTRA President Kang Kyung-sung said. "We will do our best to back our companies so that their innovation results can lead to exports and foreign advances."
