The release date for Netflix's "Squid Game" season 3 has been confirmed.

Netflix announced on Jan. 30 that “Squid Game” season 3 will air on June 27, unveiling a new poster and still images for the upcoming season.

“Squid Game” season 3 tells the story of Seong Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae), returning to the game with a personal motive after losing his best friend, the Front Man (Lee Byung-hun), who had infiltrated the game while hiding his true identity, and the final fate of the participants who survived from the brutal challenges.

Series creator Hwang Dong-hyuk expressed his excitement, saying, “I am thrilled to see the seeds I planted while creating this new season growing and bearing fruit. I will do my best to deliver another thrilling story.”

The thriller is about 456 people risking their lives for a prize of KRW 45.6 billion. Since its debut in 2021, its season 1 has remained Netflix’s most-watched series of all time.

“Squid Game” season 2, released on Dec. 26 last year, set a record for the highest number of views in its debut week.
